Weight Estimation
In our summer
class school year 2013, I have learned how to estimate the weight of the piglet
by using tape measure. The process is very simple.
- First you have to get the hearth girth of the piglet in inches. It is the circumference just behind the forelegs of the piglet and then
- Next is the body length in inches. It is from the base of the tail to the base of the ear.
Then you’ll proceed to the formula. The
formula is hearth girth squared multiply by body length over four hundred. The
answer will be in pounds if you want to get the kilogram, you just have to
convert the answer into kilogram by dividing it by 2.2.
For example you
have a piglet that has a heart girth of 22” and body length of 25”.
Formula: HG²×BL
Solution: 22²×25 = 484×25 = 12100 =
30.25 lbs
400 400 400
400
To convert
into kilograms divide the answer by 2.2.
Solution:
30.25 lbs ÷ 2.2 = 13.75 kg
Weight
estimation is important because you can get the weight of the piglet without
the hassle of putting it into the weighing scale. You can even use this weight
estimation if you are to buy bigger pigs if you are on the business of buy and
sell.
